Background

After leaving university in 2008, my first role was in executive search within the Recruitment industry. I moved onto become a Fundraising Manager for a major UK charity which involved organising events including an annual gala dinner for over 1,000 guests . Over the last 10 years with OC I have taken on a variety of different roles including joining Privée shortly after it was established, and eventually taking on the Head of Sales role tasked with growing our Lifestyle division. Following Armonia’s acquisition of OC I was promoted to Head of Commercial of OC in 2019, leading new business and contract negotiation.

Position

As Managing Director my role is now to strategically lead the company and support our wonderful Head of Departments and head office teams every day. I also work closely with senior colleagues from our parent company Armonia Group on commercial activity, operational updates, investment plans, technological developments and innovations. Being part of an international group is hugely beneficial as we also collaborate with our sister companies on best practice, trends and ESG initiatives.

What do you love about your job

For me it is all about the people we employ. I love winning a new contract and creating new jobs for people to join our OC family. I love seeing team members inspired and bringing their sites to life through engaging events. I love seeing colleagues progress either internally with OC, or onto other roles after leaving helped by the training and development received. I love hearing positive feedback from client on exceptional service and celebrating success.

Nigel Wilby
Head of IT

IT Director - Nigel Wilby.jpg

Background

With over 20 years of IT experience, covering public and private sectors, I am passionate about technology and how it can be used to solve business problems.
I worked from the bottom up, from helpdesk to director, through different roles and organisations. Although I still enjoy the technical side of things, I am keen to develop others and be part of their journey and success.
Joining OC and their sister company in 2022 to be part of the Armonia Group in the UK has been an exciting time for me, getting to know two businesses and assisting each on their respective technology journeys.

Position

As IT Director, my role is to understand current and future business requirements and translate these into a technology strategy capable of supporting and delivering these. I work with all stakeholders to ensure the technology we use supports and delivers excellent services, both internally and externally.
Mr role also promotes communication, collaboration and community through technology and drives efficiencies and improvements via innovation and successful technology adoption.

What do you love about your job

Problem solving is a key part of the role and I always enjoy helping others achieve their goals. It is not about what I can do for others, but how I can enable people and departments to do things themselves. Nobody wants to battle the tools they work with, and it is very satisfying when we get it right and people can simply conduct their work.
Learning new things and seeing what is new in technology keeps things fresh and each day brings new challenges. I also like being part of something bigger and collaborating with others!

Outside of Work

I am keen to get outdoors whenever I can to take in nature, whether that be an epic hike, mountain bike ride or 5k run. My work generally keeps me indoors so it’s great to get some exercise and escapism; there’s no better night's sleep than under a canvas!
I am a regular at music festivals, splodging in the mud, although now a “little” older, a more comfortable boutique camping offer is much preferred.
